Instagram Illustration: @hauteonlife

This illustration is the first of many in an Instagram illustration inspired series. In all honesty, it should be a very very long series.

I've been wanting to increase my illustration skills lately, in the hopes that it will open the doors for a few opportunities in the future. To get my practice in, I've decided to illustrate various pictures that I come across on instagram. The way I select what to draw isn't that crucial. Really, all it takes is for me to come across it and if I fill a little inspired, I'll save it in order to possibly draw it later. It's as simple as that.

And first up is @hauteonlife.

I came across @hauteonlife when I was trying to find IG-ers that fit my style. Well my style if I actually put the effort forth.

I was looking for a semi glam street look; t-shirt and a jeans with some intentional stylization; a sporty girl style. Get what I'm saying?

Anyway, I came across @hauteonlife and the picture that I illustrated and liked the styling she did with the patterned blazer over the t-shirt with the pop of color from the shirt graphic and the red booties. I instantly loved those boots when I saw them. The look was casual and well put together so I saved it. Months later, I decide to illustrate it.

After finishing, there's still some things I know I need to work on. Skin tone and shadows and highlights are still illusive to me and I had absolutely no idea what to do when it came to the super shiny leather pants. Given it was my first time to do this fabrication, I think I did a pretty okay job.
