Flats Friday: Ethereal Nomad

This weeks design comes from the Mood board Monday posted earlier this week that visually captures how I felt of being overtly inspired and overwhelmed at the same time. You can read a little more about it by clicking this link here, but summed up, the mood board showed how I valued the natural creative influx even though it left me feeling a little cloudy and anxious.

From there, I came up with the design concept of an Ethereal Nomad of which I interpreted to mean a pure body who continuously wanders with limited direction of where they’ll end up. The being is natural, powerful and pure, like the spark of creativity, and knows of their purpose, yet they don’t know what the next destination will be.

For the designs, I kept the idea of creativity being natural and organic at the foundation. I don’t want hard lines or distinct angles in the collection and I want there to be clean distressing at some of the edges of garments. Light colored fabrics that show texture, like oatmeal heathers, are ideal along with enzyme washing darker tones to have a slightly dated and warn look. I’d also want to play around with using copper coated fibers in the fabrications weaves or stitches.

The curves on the marble stone had a heavy influence with creating unpredictable curved lines that keep the viewers eyes in motion. I’d play around with the curves by gathering edges at the seams like in these designs or creating layers with curved edges and seams that allow for contrast paneling.
